I’m Managing Director and joint owner of the business with Allison. I manage all our client relationships and the business. I am passionate about providing our clients with financial business management advice and tools to help them grow their businesses rather than just managing their books and tax affairs. I’m proud of my company – we have built a great team, a good team spirit and as it’s mine, I’m able to run it my way!

Before setting up AMT I had senior financial roles in many sectors, including manufacturing and distribution. I was with Nissan and Hanson Plc for several years and I’ve also had experience of Turn around Management in Detroit. I use all of the knowledge I’ve gained in my career to help our clients get the best from their businesses.

Other than work, I like to be outdoors, I play golf and am a big Sunderland fan!

I am the Practice Manager, managing the day to day running of our business, looking after staff, apprentices and clients while making sure that our business runs smoothly. It’s a lovely place to work; there’s a great team spirit, and we have some amazing clients.

Previously I worked for HMRC for 20 years as a Revenue Officer, then after a well-earned career break living in Germany, I returned to the UK to set up my own successful business as a dog groomer before moving over to be AMT’s Practice Manager.

I’m in the North Northumberland Dog Training Club and do hoopers with my Springer Spaniel, Fynn. I also love gardening, Yoga and spending time with my 3 grandsons. I am a Sunderland season ticket holder and enjoy going to home and away matches with my family.

I’m a Chartered Accountant handling accounts, self-assessment tax returns, management accounts, statutory accounts and compliance. I also do a lot of forecasting, including tax planning, and budgeting. This is to help clients understand their cashflow, see where they can expand and generally how best to use the money they are making!

I started at AMT at 19 as an apprentice and worked my way through all my qualifications self-studying. My role means getting to meet lots of different people from all sorts of businesses who all come to us with different needs. No day is the same! Also, AMT is a friendly and relaxed place to work, it’s very sociable.

Outside of the office I like to visit friends and family who live in some lovely parts of the country from London to Edinburgh.

My role as an accountant at AMT is always very busy however my clients who consist of sole traders, partnerships and limited companies are all lovely to work alongside. I complete cashflows, statutory accounts, corporation taxations, self-assessment tax returns and management accounts. I also assist my clients with any HMRC queries including tax investigations.

We have a portfolio of lots of different businesses and as I get to work with my clients directly, I can really get to know them and their business needs and ultimately assist in any way I can. My colleagues are fantastic too, there’s a great team spirit.

Before coming to work at AMT I worked as an accountant in the maritime industry and for a hardware/software development company, but I really enjoy the variety of clients that I get to work with here at AMT.

I love to walk! I am out most weekends with my dog, visiting the Peak District, the North York Moors, Shropshire and of course, Northumberland. My longest walk….…… 26 miles, but that’s because I got lost! Lesson learned with the sore feet.

My role is as an Accounts Assistant which enables me to work on Accounts, Taxations, Management Accounts and VAT returns. As I’ve built up my qualifications, I have taken on my own set of clients too. Mike, our CEO, likes us to build a bond with our clients and really get to know their businesses to ensure we can offer as much help as possible, and this makes my work so interesting. I’m surrounded by a lovely team too, it’s a real pleasure to work at AMT.

Before I started my accountancy training, I was a nanny for 2 families. It was one of the mothers who encouraged me to pursue accountancy as a career and suggested that I do an evening class in AAT.

I’m very sociable, outside of work I spend lots of time with family and friends, including the families I used to nanny for.

I’m a trainee accountant and I’m currently working on VAT returns and beginning to work with my own clients. I came to AMT as an apprentice in November 2020, and I’ve now passed my Level 3 AAT and I’m just starting my Level 4 and final AAT.

I have always wanted to be an accountant, and I feel like I am very lucky to work for a company where I learn so much and enjoy the camaraderie within the team. The variety of clients means I’m learning something every day about how business works and how accounting and business advice can help them.

I am an avid Newcastle fan and as we have 2 Sunderland fans in the office you can imagine the banter! I love to walk in the area, on the hills and the beach with my dog. I play football and basketball regularly and I am in the gym most days. I like to keep fit!

I’m the payroll administrator, managing all the payroll and pensions here at AMT. It’s a lovely small team with lots of cake shared! Mike and Allison are brilliant bosses and have been extremely welcoming and supportive.

Out of the office I support Brentford FC. The football rivalry in the office is great fun! I also have two boys who play for local teams, they are huge Newcastle united fans, so weekends are mostly spent at the side of a pitch, be that St James’ Park or a local village! My biggest love is country and western music, so outside of the office and work, you will find me in cowgirl boots singing along to my favourite artists.
